It also has a dual base ISO of 800 & 4000 and added features such as volume control buttons, 4-channel audio control, and arrow keys for menu navigation. The LCD screen has a resolution of 1280 x 720 and genlock and timecode are now built into the body, eliminating the need for additional equipment. The camera also has advanced autofocus capabilities, including Face Priority AF, Face Only AF, and Face Registration. It is designed for high mobility and can be controlled remotely through a smartphone or tablet using Wi-Fi connection. The FX9 also has the ability to transfer files over the internet, making it ideal for news teams and remote editing.

The FX9 has recently received a system software update, correcting rare issues with the RAW output and assignable dial. Additionally, a new firmware update has been released, adding features such as full-frame 4K 60p/50p recording, FHD 180fps shooting, and 16-bit RAW output. The camera combines Sonys technology from their digital cinema camera Venice, FS series, and Alpha ILC cameras, resulting in a full-frame 6K sensor camera with advanced features and cinematic color science. With its upgraded capabilities and impressive specs, the FX9 is a highly anticipated successor to the popular PXW-FS7.
