The Training and Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for upholding high equipment standards through effective training and ensuring excellent job preparation. Hotcam operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working across multiple disciplines, with a focus on major non-scripted productions and multi-camera cine projects. In both areas, we take pride in our excellent reputation for delivering comprehensive wet-hire solutions for some of the UK’s best known and most complex formats.

The role focuses on training our staff to maintain, check in, and prepare equipment to meet the company’s quality standards. This includes developing and implementing technical training frameworks for Hotcam’s trainees and junior kit room staff, ensuring their continuous growth and technical expertise. Key attributes include a passion for TV technology, and the ability to motivate and inspire our staff to reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities include on-the-job technical training for specific equipment, conducting one-on-one training sessions, and overseeing quality control across check-ins and preparations. This role is ideal for someone with extensive hands-on experience, either in a kit room or on location - ideally both.

The role reports to the Operations Manager and collaborates closely with the Assistant Operations Managers and Logistics Manager. They will support and drive the progression of kit room staff, aligning their career and personal development with Hotcam’s long-term objectives and company values. The Training and Quality Assurance Manager is also responsible for maintaining high standards of discipline in the kit room, including timekeeping, attention to detail, and adherence to professional and technical etiquette.

A key responsibility is working closely with the Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Managers to ensure equipment is prepped on time and in alignment with logistical requirements. Additionally, they will work with the Inventory Coordinator to ensure kits are configured efficiently and in accordance with procedure, while ensuring proper onboarding of assets.

 

The main Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Develop, implement, and maintain training programmes for kit room staff to ensure consistent and efficient equipment preparation and check-in.

· Conduct on-the-job training, one-on-ones, and spot-checks to monitor the quality of equipment across the warehouse.

· Manage staff progression through Hotcam’s training matrix, and work to further develop this as a tool, ensuring that we have ongoing skill development at all technical levels within the business.

· Work closely with the Logistics Manager, who line manages the Driver Trainees, to establish a basic technical understanding in preparation to them becoming kit room technicians.

· Work closely with the Assistant Operations Managers, who line manage the Kit Room Technicians, ensuring an efficient progression from Kit Room Technician through to Camera Assistant.

· Provide technical support and training for clients and contractors, both within the warehouse and on location. Identify and resolve technical issues in a timely manner as-and-when required.

· Assist with maintaining a record of kit room staff performance, charting their technical development.

· Uphold discipline in the kit room, including timekeeping, attention to detail, and adherence to professional and technical standards.

· Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure timely equipment prep and check-in, which aligns with logistical requirements.

· Partner with the Inventory Coordinator to ensure that we have practical configuration of kits.

· Partner with the senior management teams to build on existing operations and procedures, whilst implementing new technical processes where required.

· Participate as a key member of the General Management Council, meeting weekly to address company-wide initiatives whilst championing the needs of the department.

· Work with Hotcam’s Projects team to ensure that information from clients is clearly and concisely passed between departments.

· Cultivate a culture of open-minded problem solving and high levels of attention to detail.

· Support kit room staff by managing and overseeing technical elements of projects.

· Establish and maintain comprehensive quality control processes to ensure all projects and equipment leaving the building are to the highest standard.
