We are seeking dedicated Shift Leaders to oversee our early (check-in) or late (prep) shift in our busy film and television equipment rental business. As a Shift Leader, you will manage a team of junior staff and trainees, ensuring smooth operations throughout the day. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing equipment check-ins or preparations, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards and on schedule. You will also provide essential training and technical support, helping to develop the skills of junior team members.

This is a hands-on, permanent role in our kit room, where consistency and accountability are key to maintaining our exceptional quality standards. You will need excellent time management skills, both for yourself and your team, alongside strong technical expertise. The ability to lead by example and instill a culture of discipline, professionalism, and attention to detail is essential. A strong working relationship with the Kit Room Manager and team of Project Managers is crucial, as you will ensure that equipment is prepped and ready to meet the needs of our logistics schedule.

The main Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the early (check-in) or late (prep) shift, ensuring all equipment is processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Lead a team of junior staff and trainees, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure all equipment meets our quality standards before and after rental, with attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Manage the workflow of the shift, ensuring all deadlines are met in coordination with logistics.
  • Provide training on equipment handling and industry best practices, fostering the development of junior staff members.
  • Ensure that all health and safety regulations are followed within the kit room.
  • Work closely with the Kit Room Manager and other departments to maintain smooth operations and ensure timely delivery of equipment.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, before they become a problem for clients. 
  • Work as part of the management team to maintain a record of kit room staff performance, charting their learning and development. 
  • Cultivate a culture of open minded problem solving and high levels of attention to detail.
  • Develop and implement vocational training for new and existing staff to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive quality control processes to ensure all projects and equipment leaving the building are to the highest standard.
  • Collaborate with all teams to establish quality benchmarks and metrics to be followed across the company. 
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify any quality issues and provide constructive feedback/training to the relevant parties.
  • Provide technical support and training for clients and contractors in house and on location, ensuring technical solutions are explored and resolutions are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Monitor inventory levels and work with relevant teams to ensure stock availability is accurate and equipment down time is minimised. 
  • Support the Kitroom Manager to lead the technical team and all technical elements associated with projects. Including personnel, delegation of duties, logistics and equipment checks.
  • Liaising with clients to help troubleshoot technical issues.
